Apple Pre-School Brain Builder Program

INTELLECTUAL PROGRAM

We stimulate the brains of our pre-school children by giving continual input to the sensory and auditory pathways in a systematic and continuous manner.  The key is to offer information in a child friendly, factual way and to focus on frequency, intensity and duration. We NEVER want to bore our kids, or make it feel like lessons. FUN is the key to learning and that is the main focus in all our programs.

Reading

It is now known that is is possible for children to learn to read at a very young age, if given the right opportunity and the right method is used. Reading is very important for many different reasons, other than the fact that it actually grows the brain. Children learn to read in the same way that they learn to speak. They just don't get as much opportunity to read as they do to hear people speak. Our main goal with our reading program is to stimulate the visual pathways in the brain, so although some of the children will learn to read very early, all of them will benefit enormously. We think that the development of imagination is very important too, so our kids will be read to often and a love of books and reading will always be encouraged.

Math

Our math program for our pre-schoolers is based on working and understanding of real quantities. Only after this foundation is laid we teach the names of those quantities (numbers). We believe that input on a daily basis will have enormous benefits later. We don't have "lessons" just frequent opportunities on a daily basis.

Science

Science is fun and there is no reason why we cannot prove that to kids from a very young age. We do fun experiments to learn about our world and to explain how things work. We do lots of great things like mixing colours, working with magnets, making volcanoes and explaining gravity. We plant things, make butter, bake and discover.

Art

Art plays a very important role in our intellectual development program. Our kids are encouraged to be creative, to experiment and to have fun. We are not afraid to mess, and we have a specially designated area for our painting, pottery, cutting and pasting.

Drama

Drama classes play an important role in developing imagination and self confidence. It prepares children to perform in front of others as well as for public speaking later.

Computers

Computers and technology are a reality in modern society, and it is important to prepare children for the post-internet years in which they will be adults. The world will be so different from now that we can hardly imagine it. We offer computers lessons for children from 2 years an older as an extra-curricular.
